October 02, 2023
Junagadh: An Asiatic lion was recently spotted enjoying the tides of the Arabian Sea near Junagadh coast. The picture of this lion has now gone viral on social media.
The Junagadh Chief Conservator of Forests, sharing the lion’s picture first, wrote, “A lion was spotted near the seacoast during patrolling for Bhadarvi Poonam.”
Afterward, the photo was shared by an IFS officer named Parveen Kaswan, who likened this image to a fantasy film, Narnia. Sharing the image on Twitter, Kaswan wrote, “When #Narnia looks real. A lion king captured enjoying the tides of the Arabian Sea on the Gujarat coast. Courtesy: CCF, Junagadh.”

Soon after, the officer’s post went viral, with over 4.4 lakh views by now. Kaswan responded to comments on his tweet by sharing a link to a paper titled “Living on the sea-coast: ranging and habitat distribution of Asiatic lions.”
Commenting on the picture, one user wrote, “Stunning! Nature’s magic in Narnia. The Lion King’s seaside serenity on Gujarat’s coast. Thanks to CCF, Junagadh, for this beauty!”
Another user showed some concern and asked, “Is this normal? Do lions come to the sea? Or is this one just lost?”
One user creatively referenced the famous line from “The Jungle Book” and adapted it to say, “Jangal jangle bat chali pata chala hai… Beach me aa k kitna maja hai ye pata chala hai.. Sher in a mood like that.” DeshGujarat
