Gujarat govt prepares master plan for Beyt Dwarka development

Okha: The Gujarat government has devised a comprehensive master plan for Beyt Dwarka’s development. Prepared by the tourism department, this master plan seeks to leverage both the island’s natural environment and its religious importance to create a fully-equipped tourism destination.

Officials from the state government have reported that the “Signature Bridge” project, which connects Okha and Beyt Dwarka, is nearing completion. This 2,320-meter-long bridge will establish essential connectivity between the mainland and the island. Currently, people rely on ferries for transportation between Okha and Beyt Dwarka. The project, initiated in 2018, has seen the construction of 38 piers in the sea. With an estimated cost of Rs 978 crore, it is slated to be finished within a month. Furthermore, footpaths have been constructed on both sides of the 27-meter-wide bridge, and the installation of solar panels on these footpaths is underway to generate 1MW of electricity, which will be used for lighting on the bridge.

In addition to visiting Beyt Dwarka, tourists will have the opportunity to explore Dwarka, Shivrajpur, Poshitra Marine Sanctuary, Nageshwara Jyotirling, Charkala Bird Sanctuary, and Gopi Talav Teertham, according to officials. DeshGujarat
