ACB Gujarat books Chief Officer, Engineer of Chanasma Municipality in bribe case

Gandhinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today booked Chief Officer of Chanasma and detained the Municipal Engineer of Chanasma town in a bribe case.

The accused are identified as Sanjay Hathibhai Patel, a class-2 employee of the State government who works as a Chief Officer of Chanasma town. Another accused held is Manish Desai(29), Municipal Engineer(on contract basis) who works in Chanasma’s Nagar Seva Sadan.

According to ACB, a complainant is a civil engineer who had done third party inspection of government works done by Chanasma municipality. He was seeking payment of his bill for which the accused demanded Rs. 70,000 as bribe. As the complainant was not willing to pay bribe, he approached ACB, following which a trap was arranged and accused Municipal Engineer Manish Desai was held after he accepted bribe, while the main accused, the Chief Officer was not present on the spot.
