Gujarat govt announces changes to Class 10, 12 board exam patterns
October 13, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Government on Thursday announced changes to the class 10 and 12 board exam patterns. These modifications align with the National Education Policy 2020 and will be implemented in the academic year 2023-24. The Education Department has already issued the necessary resolutions for these alterations.
Here are the key changes that will be implemented:
1. Supplementary exams for all subjects in the class 12 science stream will be conducted in June/July. Students who have passed their exams will also have the opportunity to reappear for all subjects or as many subjects as they wish in order to improve their results. Out of the two examinations taken, the higher result (Best of Two) will be considered.
2. Class 10 students will now be allowed to take a supplementary examination for three subjects instead of the previous limit of two subjects.
3. Students in the class 12 general stream can now take a supplementary examination for two subjects, an increase from one subject.
4. The proportion of objective questions in the Class 10 and Class 12 general stream board exams will be raised to 30% from the current 20%, while the proportion of descriptive questions will decrease from 80% to 70%.
5. In the Class 12 science stream board exams, it has been decided to keep 50 percent Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and provide general options in all questions instead of internal options in 50 percent of descriptive questions. DeshGujarat
