Part of under-construction bridge collapses in Palanpur; CM orders probe

Banaskantha: A portion of the under-construction bridge near Palanpur RTO Circle collapsed, resulting in the crushing of a tractor and a rickshaw. The incident occurred during the ongoing construction work, and it was reported that three individuals were trapped in the debris from the collapsed bridge however two death were confirmed by officials.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel has taken a very serious note of the incident of the collapse of the approach girder of the railway overbridge on National Highway 58 in Palanpur city.

To investigate the primary causes of this accident, the Superintendent Engineer of the Quality Control Division of the State Government’s Road & Building Department, the Superintendent Engineer of the Design Circle, and the Superintendent Engineer of GERI have been instructed to travel to Palanpur immediately. These Superintendent Engineers have already left for Palanpur and will promptly submit a report on the prima facie reasons of the accident to the State Government after inspecting the site.

The vicinity surrounding the railway track became notably active following the slab’s collapse. Railway and local authorities promptly responded to the scene. In addition, administrative officers and representatives from the road construction department were dispatched to the location following the incident. The district collector has conveyed that they are currently gathering details for the preliminary investigation, and subsequent actions will be determined once the cause of the collapse is ascertained.
