IT searches at premises of Avirat and Shypram group in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: In a significant operation today, the Income Tax Department is conducting searches at the premises of prominent builders along with their associated brokers, including Avirat Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. , Sheladia and the Shypram group, here in the city.
It is learned that during the operation, the IT Department has seized undersized land, property, jewelry, and cash, pointing toward a tax evasion of around Rs. 1000 crore. The searches that started in the morning at around 25 locations lasted until the night, with the seizure of around 15 bank lockers and several bank accounts.
The Income Tax Department initiated the search operation last night at the premises of Shypram Parisar near Science City. Trikam Patel and Anil Patel are the owners of the Shypram group, on whose several premises the income tax search operation is underway. Income Tax Department teams have reached approximately 24 locations, including the residences of Trikam Patel and Anil Patel.
Another group whose premises are being searched by the IT Department is Avirat Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. of Ahmedabad. Kanu Patel, Sandeep Patel, and Baldev Patel of the Avirat Group are also under investigation. Other offices, including one near the High Court, are also under scrutiny.
The investigative team comprises more than 150 Income Tax officials. It is anticipated that a significant amount of benami wealth may be uncovered upon the completion of the investigation.
