Rajkot civic body to give body-worn cameras to cattle impounding team

Rajkot: In order to curb the stray cattle menace, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is going to provide body-worn cameras to the cattle control team. The decision was taken by the civic body’s standing committee. The civic body is also going to set up two new animal hostels in Kotharia and Sokhda area.

Speaking to the media in reaction to this decision, Jaymin Thakar, Chairman of the Standing Committee of RMC, said, “We need two new animal hostels, vehicles for the cattle impounding team, and body-worn cameras. When the officers go to impound cattle, several allegations are made against them. To prevent these allegations, the employees will wear body-worn cameras, and vehicles will be equipped with videography equipment. We have requested a grant for these from the government. The corporation has requested an estimated amount of over Rs 36 crore from the municipal finance board of the state government, which is likely to be approved soon.” DeshGujarat
