Family organizes Besna of their daughter who’s alive

Vadodara: A family from the Valand community (a community of hair-cutting artists conventionally by profession) in Lilora village of Waghodia taluka here organized the besna (prayer meet after death) function of their living daughter who eloped with a man from another caste and married him.

Partets of the daughter published a banner of Besna of their girl child Arpitaben and invited community members to participate in it. Besna was organized in the same fashion as if someone was dead in the family.  The family, by organizing such Besna gave a strong message that for them their daughter was dead as she court-registered marriage with some man without consulting her parents, who had done everything for her.   DeshGujarat
