ACB Gujarat nabs an AMC Ward Inspector for taking bribe
November 08, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed Nainesh Patel(58) a Ward Inspector(class-3 employee) of Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC)’s West Zone office for demanding and taking a Rs. 4,000 bribe.
A complainant in this case had applied for a professional tax certificate for a shop for which he had visited the professional tax department in AMC’s West Zone office. He was told that the procedure of issuing a certificate would be carried out after the site visit.
Later on, 7 November, when shop documents were presented to accused Nainesh Patel at the AMC office, Patel told the complainant that during the visit the shop had a banner titled ‘Krishna Disposable’ while in the professional tax certificate it is shown as ‘Ramdev Plastic & Disposable’. Due to this contradiction, a certificate will not be issued.
Patel according to ACB demanded Rs. 5,000 bribe for issuing the certificate and later fixed the bribe sum at Rs. 4,000.
As a complaint was not willing to pay a bribe, he contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged, and accused Nainesh Patel was held taking a Rs. 4,000 bribe on a public road in the Motera area. DeshGujarat
