Ahmedabad: A man who murdered a beggar in Agra and showed it as his own death to get Rs. 80 lakh insurance money was staying in Ahmedabad for the last 17 years with a fake identity. He is now nabbed by the city police crime branch.
According to police, in 2006, Anil Singh Chaudhary killed a beggar in Agra and faked that as his own death to get Rs. 80 lakh insurance money. Singh then changed his identity to Rajkumar Chaudhary and started staying at Manmohannagar in Nikol area of Ahmedabad.
Police said, Anil Singh, his father Vijaypal Singh and his friend made a plan in 2004 and purchased Rs. 20 lakh policy of LIC maned Jivan Mitra in name of Anil Singh. As per policy, a beneficiary would get Rs. 80 lakh on accidental death of Anil Singh.
In January 2006, Vijaypal purchased a car in the name of son Anil Singh and insured that vehicle. Later in July that year, Anil as per a plan, lured a beggar for a meal. A beggar was begging in the Dankaur-Ghaziabad train when Singh lured him. A beggar was taken out of the train and made unconscious first. A beggar was later placed in Singh’s car. Then an accident was faked and the car was burnt. However a burnt dead body recovered from the car was that of a beggar and not Anil Singh’s. Anil Singh’s father accepted a burnt dead body and identified it as his son’s. The body was cremated. Later Rs. 80 lakh were claimed under LIC policy and received.
Within hours of this incident, Anil Singh shifted to Ahmedabad and started living here as Rajkumar. Anil Singh’s children and wife were unaware about the past story. Anil Singh would visit Surat or Delhi to meet his relatives in order to conceal his past from the wife and children. DeshGujarat
