Sabarmati: Assistant Sub Inspector(ASI) of Ellis bridge police station in Ahmedabad, Mahipatsinh Barad has been held by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) this evening for seeking and taking Rs. 25,000 bribe.

According to ACB, accused ASI received bribe at Talon home appliances near Ujala chokdi in Sarkhej area of city.

ACB note stated that a complainant had a dispute with his partner over recovery of money for which the partner had given an application at Ellis bridge police station. The accused ASI had sorted out the dispute and managed to ensure recovery of money through two cheques. The accused constable demanded 20% of the money as a bribe but after bargaining settled at Rs. 25,000.

A complainant however was not willing to pay a bribe and therefore approached ACB, following which a trap was arranged and the accused ASI was held after he received a bribe. DeshGujarat
