Passengers create uproar at Ahmedabad Airport as luggage delivery faces delay
December 08, 2023
Ahmedabad: Around 90 passengers who arrived at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport here in the city from Vietnam were angered after their luggage was not given to them.
It is learnt that the passengers, after arriving from Vietnam on a Vietjet Air flight, stood by the conveyor belts, waiting for their luggage. The airline explained that, as the luggage was left at the airport in Vietnam, the standard procedure for handling missing luggage needed to be followed, and their luggage would arrive the next day. Some passengers, who were also connecting to the next flight, expressed their anger against the airline for carrying valuables in their luggage, creating a commotion. However, due to the flight being at full capacity with 180 passengers, the luggage for 90 passengers did not arrive.
The airline company mentioned that the current full occupancy of the flight is due to the NRI season. As the flight was fully fueled, weight restrictions resulted in passengers’ luggage being left at the Vietnam airport. It has also been learned that, in some cases, passengers have been facing the issue of luggage delays of up to a week. Those whose luggage is left behind can either come to the airport or request delivery to their homes. DeshGujarat
