Recognition of four private schools canceled in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The primary education department has canceled the recognition of four private schools, two each in Geratpur and Hatkeshwar areas in the city.

The schools whose accreditation has been canceled are Shraddha International English School and Bhagwati Balmandir and Primary School in Geratpur. The cancellation of recognition will be effective from June 2024. Meanwhile, in Hatkeshwar areas, the recognition of Nutan School (English & Gujarati Medium) and Mitul Primary School is canceled, and the closure of these two schools is effective immediately.

This decision was taken after an investigation by the District Education Officer (DEO) Ahmedabad. The management of these schools was found to have submitted affidavits containing inaccurate information about the infrastructure when seeking permission.

It is learnt that Shraddha School and Bhagwati School, both schools operating under the administration of Nutan Education Trust on a shared campus, obtained recognition in 2022 to start these schools. A false affidavit claimed many classrooms; however, both schools shared the same campus with six classrooms.

The recognition of Hatkeshwar area schools was revoked as they were operating despite inadequate infrastructure, and the necessary safety certificate and report for the building were not submitted. Consequently, the recognition of these ten-year-old schools has been canceled to prevent potential harm to students in the future.

Assistant District Education Officer Bharatsinh Gohil said that out of the four schools, two schools are running in the same building under different names. The accreditation of the school has been revoked in the interest of the students due to the fact that the infrastructure in the school is not proper, and the school has filed a false affidavit.
