Monkey nuisance in several parts of Ahmedabad; Locals facing inconvenience on daily basis

Ahmedabad: After the stray cattle and stray dog menace, the residents of the city are now facing a nuisance from monkeys. Monkeys have created terror in several areas of the city, with over 25 people reportedly attacked in the Sarkhej area.

Local people, while talking to the media, said that in Ahmedabad, there was a menace of dogs and cattle, and now the monkey menace is new. Earlier, in the Juhapura area, several incidents of monkey attacks were reported. Now, in the Sarkhej Roza area and the Chiku ni Wadi area, monkey attacks are on the rise.

As the monkeys attack, people, including old people and women, run to save themselves but sometimes fall, causing injuries.

In the Jodhpur area, locals also reported that packs of monkeys come around every day, climbing the roofs of their houses, creating a ruckus, and defecating here and there. One of the locals reported that monkeys ruined their wheat grains, which were drying under cover on the rooftop. There are small kids behind whom the monkeys run.

The locals of the Sarkhej area have been suffering the torture of Kapiraj for 15 days, with kids not being able to go to school. Worried about monkeys, the locals in the Sarkhej area are forced to carry sticks with themselves.

According to locals, no action has been taken despite informing the forest department. It has also been alleged that the forest department is not responding promptly; the department said that catching the monkeys will take them away, but the monkey is not a pet that can be caught by untrained locals.
