AMC to rename 9 places in Odhav, Viratnagar on Ramayana characters
January 02, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recently approved a proposal to rename some projects in the city based on the Ramayana. This renaming initiative, suggested by AMC corporators Vijay Panchal and Dashrath Patel, serves as a tribute to the upcoming consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The projects span two wards, Odhav and Viratnagar.
In Odhav, a party plot near the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) estate is now known as ‘Shri Ram Vatika.’ Additionally, two gardens, situated near the Shivdarshan society and in Odhav village, have been named ‘Shri Shabri Vatika’ and ‘Shri Ayodhya Van.’ A newly constructed library has been designated ‘Shri Valmiki Rishi,’ and the revitalized lake in Odhav village is now called ‘Luv-Kush Sarovar.’
In Viratnagar, three newly built bridges have adopted names from the Ramayana – ‘Shri Ram Setu’ (Soni ni Chali), ‘Shri Ramrajya’ (Rajendra Park), and ‘Shri Lakshman Bridge’ (Ajit Mills). Additionally, Kuvara Circle has been renamed ‘Shri Kesari Nandan Chowk,’ paying homage to Lord Hanuman. DeshGujarat
