Una: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has booked an inspector and an ASI for allegedly allowing substantial quantities of liquor to illegally enter Gujarat. One middleman has been nabbed in the case, while the cops remain absconding.
Following a tip-off about police officers accepting bribes for facilitating the entry of liquor from Diu, the ACB conducted a decoy operation targeting Inspector K N Goswami from Una police station and other cops at the Ghoghla check post in Mandvi.
During the operation, a vehicle was driven to the checkpoint, and the police officers on duty began inspecting it. However, they sensed the plot and fled the scene. One of the officers even took off his uniform while fleeing. However, a middleman named Nilesh Tadvi was apprehended. Tadvi, booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, is in police remand for 6 days.
Investigation revealed incriminating audio clips on Inspector Goswami’s phone, exposing discussions about money collection. Inspector Goswami and ASI Nilesh Chaganbhai are booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. ACB is conducting a forensic examination of Goswami’s phone, seeking further details on other involved police officials. DeshGujarat
