PM Modi and UAE President MBZ’s roadshow in Ahmedabad to be plastic-free

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be organizing the “India Road Show” during the visit of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi and President of the UAE, Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Ahmedabad on the 9th of January 2024.

As part of this event, 15 stages for cultural performances will be set up along the route from GUJSAIL Circle (Airport) to Indira Bridge, all within the AMC limits. To promote sustainability, plastic bottles for drinking water will not be provided to the artists and citizens participating in the cultural program. Alternative non-plastic drinking water options have been arranged. Additionally, 400 numbers of 80-liter capacity dustbins will be strategically placed along the entire route to facilitate easy garbage disposal for citizens.

For the upkeep and cleanliness of the roads, more than 200 sanitation workers will be deployed on both sides. Ten supervisory officers will oversee the cleaning activities before, during, and after the road show. High-ranking officers like Dy. Municipal Commissioners, assisted by the Dy. Director (SWM) of the respective zone and their department teams, will coordinate stage management and ensure cleanliness in and around the performance areas.

Efforts have been made to swiftly clear the roads within 15 minutes of the road show’s conclusion. For this purpose, 3 road sweeper machines, 5 small TATA ACE vehicles, 1 litterbin collection van, and 10 compactor-type vehicles will be deployed to efficiently collect and dispose of waste and littering.

Moreover, to cater to the citizens’ convenience, 20 mobile toilets will be strategically placed at 14 locations, including parking areas along the road show route
