Surat: The Gujarat Chief Minister today flagged off the Vann Setu Chetna Yatra from Umargam in Valsad to Ambaji in Banaskantha, covering the tribal belt of the state across 51 talukas in 13 districts. The yatra will reach Ambaji on January 22nd.
The yatra is organised by the Forest Department of the State Government. A five-day-long yatra will be joined by 3 lakh people. Its primary motive is to connect the tribal people to the government schemes for which they are eligible.
The yatra will pass through Surat, Tapi, Bharuch, Narmada, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Mahisagar, Arvalli, Sabarkantha, and Banaskantha districts through a route of about 1,000 km.
In each district on the route, there will be a one-stage programme and three swagat functions. A meeting and interaction with Van Sahbhagi Mandli, women’s self-help groups, felicitation of tribal achievers, information regarding Van Bandhu yojana benefits in tribal areas in the last twenty years, and awareness of the 22nd January Ram Janmabhoomi mandir inauguration are part of the yatra.
