Ambardi Safari Park gets six zoo-bred wolves; Minister facilitates soft-release

Amreli: A soft-release facility at Ambardi Safari Park welcomed six zoo-bread wolves recently.  Originating from the wolf breeding center in Sakkar Baug Zoo, Junagadh city, the wolves spent around three months acclimatizing in a quarantine facility before Forest and Environment Minister Mulubhai Bera released them into soft-release enclosures.

Ambardi Safari Park now stands as the third soft-release facility in the state, joining the ranks of Nadabet in Banaskantha and Devaliya Safari Park.

Of the six wolves, four are females, and two are males. They will be organized into two packs, each consisting of three animals, residing in separate enclosures and undergoing training for survival in the wild.

The release is part of an initiative to replenish the wild wolf population, essential for regulating the numbers of wild ungulates such as blue bulls (nilgais) and wild boars. DeshGujarat
