Surat to get a Smog Tower to combat air pollution

Surat: Similar to the national capital, Delhi, a smog tower is proposed to be set up in the Katargam area of Surat to combat air pollution.
The Surat Municipal Corporation presented a proposal to its standing committee on Wednesday, advocating the installation of a smog tower. Jwalant Naik, the environmental engineer for SMC, noted that Jhanvi Enterprise has been selected to install and operate the smog tower. In a pilot project, the smog tower will be positioned at a traffic junction on Vastadevdi Road. The tower filters polluted air before releasing clean air back into the atmosphere.
Earlier, in a letter to the district collector, BJP MP from Surat and Union Minister Darshan Jardosh had demanded the release of her MP Local Area Development (LAD) funds for this purpose. DeshGujarat
