February 28, 2024
Surat: 15 fitness centres in Gujarat are suspended for 15 to 180 days as it was found that they would issue fitness certificates without testing the vehicles. The government had authorized private fitness centres for the issuance of fitness certificates however there were many complaints regarding corrupt practices. 16 such fitness centres were raided in October last year and data including computer data and CCTV footage were checked deeply, after which irregularities came to light. While 3 centres had issued fitness certificates without the arrival of vehicles at the test facility, the other had breached the rules. Though there’s no official announcement in this regard, it is learnt that 15 centres are punished with suspension of activities for a period of upto 180 days. Online appointments in suspended centres are no more available. DeshGujarat
