GUTS Amendment Bill 2024 Passed: IKDRC, GUTS under unified management

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat University of Transplantation Sciences (Amendment) Bill 2024, aimed at merging the university with the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) at Civil Hospital, Medicity, was passed in the state assembly on Wednesday.
According to the bill, the governor, following the model of other universities, will serve as the chancellor and head of convocation at GUTS (Gujarat University of Transplantation Sciences). Additionally, to enhance the seamless management of both institutions, the management of IKDRC has been placed under GUTS. The vice-chancellor of GUTS will function as the de facto director of IKDRC.
Currently, Dr. Pranjal Modi, the vice-chancellor of GUTS, is serving as the interim director of IKDRC. DeshGujarat
