ACB Gujarat nabs senior surveyor and accomplice in bribery case in Valsad

Valsad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a senior surveyor and his accomplice, a peon, from Valsad in a bribery case involving a sum of Rs. 3,000.
The complainant in the case had submitted an application to the office of the District Inspector Land Record, Valsad, seeking rectification of defects identified after the re-survey of their jointly owned land at Kalgam in Umargam Taluka. The Land Surveyor cum Collection Officer was tasked with measuring the applicant’s land and preparing a proposal.
Upon visiting the office of the Superintendent cum Collection Officer, Valsad, the complainant encountered Akshay Kumar Teniya, who works as a class 4 (outsourced) employee. In the presence of Akshay, Amratbhai Zeenabhai Patel (57), posted as a Senior Surveyor, Class-3, at the office of the Superintendent Land Records cum Consolidation Officer, proposed a solution to the petitioner, assuring that the job would be completed within a week.
Subsequently, Akshay called the complainant and initially demanded Rs.10,000 to prepare a proposal in collaboration with Amratbhai Patel. The complainant made a Google Pay UPI payment of rupees nine thousand from his friend’s mobile phone. Despite this payment, Akshay continued to demand an additional bribe of Rs.3,000 on behalf of Amrat Patel.
Unwilling to pay the additional bribe, the complainant reported the matter to the ACB. Based on the complaint, a bribe trap was set up. During this operation, Akshay, on behalf of Amrat Patel, again asked the complainant for a bribe of Rs.3,000, and both accused were apprehended on the spot.
