Mount Carmel School in Navrangpura to function from old campus
March 08, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Mt Carmel School in the Navrangpura area of the city will continue to function from its current campus, as ordered by the District Education Officer, Rohit Chaudhary, for the upcoming academic year starting June 1. The order came after a visual inspection conducted by the technical officer of the Gujarat Roads and Buildings Department’s Ahmedabad division confirmed the building’s safety.
Following the DEO’s order, the school has informed the parents about operating from the existing campus via a message, which also stated, “We trust that you will understand the ongoing risks and uncertainties in the given situation and, at your own discretion, willingly abide by the same.”
On February 8, the DEO had mandated a structural strength test of the building by the executive engineer of the R&B department. The initial report stated that the building appeared sufficiently strong for use. Later, the school management requested a detailed structural audit by the end of March 2024. However, based visual report the DEO directed the school authorities to continue operations at the same premises from June 2024.
Last year, the school management had announced that due to the unsafe building, it would shift around 1,800 students to two different schools for the 2024 academic year. DeshGujarat
