First quarter of 2024 saw 768 cases of Swine Flu in Gujarat; 16 deaths

Ahmedabad: In the first quarter of 2024, i.e., January to March, a total of 768 cases of Swine Flu were reported in Gujarat. With as many as 16 deaths attributed to the H1N1 strain, now the state health department has observed a gradual decline in Swine flu cases.

It is learned that previously the state was witnessing around 150 cases of H1N1 per week. However, the number has now decreased from the earlier 20-22 cases per day to 10-12 cases per day. Officials now believe that the peak has been surpassed as cases are gradually diminishing. Nevertheless, they remain cautious as daily figures can be misleading, and decisions about the future will be made after analyzing weekly figures.

Out of the 16 fatalities, 4 were from Ahmedabad city and Rajkot each, while there were 2 deaths each in Patan and rural Ahmedabad. One fatality each occurred in Botad, Sabarkantha, Junagadh, and Mehsana. DeshGujatat
