Ahmedabad: A lawsuit has been filed against Cube Lounge restaurant in Club O7, wherein the customer has sought compensation of Rs 30.50 lakh for being served non-vegetarian food instead of the vegetarian dish he ordered.
Gaurang Raval, a resident of Shela, visited Cube Lounge restaurant in Club O7 on March 7 with his sister and brother-in-law. They ordered Veg Makhanwala and other items, but it turned out to be Murg Makhanwala, a chicken dish. The chef admitted the mistake, and the restaurant management issued a written apology.
However, Gaurang, who belongs to the Brahmin community, asserts that consuming non-vegetarian food contradicted his religious beliefs, warranting significant compensation. In his lawsuit filed before the Ahmedabad (Rural) Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, Raval alleges that his complaint was disregarded, and the restaurant only offered them a complimentary meal. Following the incident, his sister fell ill, straining their relationship.
Raval seeks Rs 10 lakh for mental distress and an additional Rs 20 lakh for breaching his dietary preferences and disrupting family relations. He also requests Rs 50,000 for litigation expenses. DeshGujarat
