Navsari Congress candidate dawns Mahatma Gandhi’s look for campaign

Navsari: The Congress Party announced Naishad Desai as their candidate for the Navsari Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat last week. Desai, who will be contesting against the state BJP chief C.R. Patil in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has adopted the attire of Mahatma Gandhi for the poll campaign. He has shaved off his head, is wearing a Dhoti, and is walking with a stick. Desai stated that winning or losing the election is not the focus.

Talking to the media Desai remarked, ‘The present Modi government is dictatorial. While I appreciate BJP candidate C.R. Patil’s efforts to provide nutrition to malnourished children, the Modi government has subjugated IAS and IPS officers to the level of peons. Demonetisation has turned black money into white under the Modi government.’ He declared his intention to continue wearing Gandhiji’s attire until the polls and to submit his nomination form on April 19. He also announced his plan to undertake the Dandi Yatra.

During a press conference today, Congress candidate Naishad Desai was joined by AAP leader Gopal Italia. Italia expressed, ‘The Navsari Lok Sabha elections will be historic. This election is a battle between the legacies of Gandhi and Godse, and its outcome will be decisive.’ DeshGujarat
