New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released the long-range forecast for the southwest monsoon of 2024 on Monday. According to the forecast, Gujarat is expected to experience normal to above-normal monsoon rainfall this season.
The forecast indicates, “The 2024 southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is most likely to be above normal (>104% of the Long Period Average (LPA)). Quantitatively, the seasonal rainfall over the country as a whole is likely to be 106% of LPA with a model error of ± 5%.”
The map included in the forecast shows above-normal monsoon conditions across Gujarat. However, North Gujarat and the Coastal Saurashtra region have a possibility of receiving comparatively higher rainfall.
