Surat: The work of the Dumas Sea Face Development project is 30 percent complete, and the project is expected to be completed by May 2025, allowing the residents to enjoy this site. The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has collaborated with the Gujarat government’s tourism department, maritime board, and forest department to develop a scenic and eco-friendly amusement park.
The Dumas Sea Face Development project includes various developmental works in two phases. Phase one involves a ₹174.22 crore tender for developing an amusement and eco-tourism park over 10.32 hectares. Phase two includes an ₹85 crore tender for various developmental works on 2.45 hectares. SMC officials confirm that 30 percent of the project is finished, with completion targeted for May 2025.
The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), a central government agency, is providing consulting services for this project. The NIUA has provided geologists, structural engineers, and horticulture experts to ensure the project maximizes nature-based solutions and environmental conservation. SMC is using Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) instead of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) for the first time to increase durability.
The project also benefits from an additional ₹19 crore grant to support specialized materials and additional work. This grant, provided based on NIUA’s recommendations, ensures that the Dumas Sea Face Development project maintains high standards and delivers an attractive recreational spot for Surtis by the scheduled opening in May 2025.
