Vadodara: A couple out for a walk was injured by a speeding Scorpio car late Sunday night in the Sama area of the city. In the hit-and-run incident, the woman lost her life while her husband has been admitted to a private hospital after sustaining grave injuries. After hitting the couple, the car lost control, overturned, and rammed into a hospital wall. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. Sama police arrived on the scene and have started the investigation.

The CCTV footage shows that the Scorpio car was traveling at a very high speed, and the driver lost control after the accident. The car plunged horizontally for several feet before smashing into a wall and a power pole on the hospital premises and overturning.

Bipinbhai Jerambhai Prajapati, who lives in Bhavita Park Society on Sama Road, stated in the complaint lodged at Sama Police Station that at 11 o’clock last night, he was at home when a friend called, saying that he should immediately come to the Preet Party plot because his brother-in-law Vipulbhai and his wife Shilpaben had met with an accident. He and another brother-in-law, Rohitbhai Savani, who lives nearby, reached Preet Party Plot with their car, where a large crowd had gathered.

There, they found that Vipulbhai and Shilpaben had been hit by a Scorpio car (GJ-23-M-8877) and that the driver had fled the scene. Shilpaben was seriously injured and was taken to Sayaji Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared her dead. Vipulbhai sustained injuries to his right leg, left arm, and ribs and was shifted to a private hospital for treatment. He has been admitted to the ICU.

Upon being informed about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and started an investigation. They have begun searching for the accused driver. The police are checking the surrounding CCTVs, and in one of the videos, a car is seen overturning after the accident.
