Ahmedabad: The executive council of Gujarat University took disciplinary actions against several faculty members on Friday.
Professor Kanwaljit Lakhtaria was suspended over allegations of financial irregularities during his tenure as head of the higher payment courses department and coordinator of the CCC exam. It is learned that this action came after a judicial inquiry. The university is contemplating lodging a complaint against Lakhtaria with the anti-corruption bureau (ACB).
Additionally, Professor Mukesh Khatik was dismissed from his position due to allegations of harassing a female colleague. The university council reviewed a report from the university’s women’s development cell, which found Khatik, former head of the political sciences department, guilty of misconduct. The university had received multiple harassment complaints against Khatik from female colleagues, prompting the referral of the case to the cell.
Furthermore, the council added a charge against suspended Professor Vipul Patel from the MSW department, accusing him of illegal recruitment. DeshGujarat
