Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has modified its policy on temporary leases with town planning (TP) schemes during a recent general meeting on June 28. It was decided that nearly 1,500 AMC plots would be utilised for parking during public events. These plots will be available for commercial, residential, or institutional use, ranging from one day to one year.

The AMC revised its policy to offer a 50% discount on rent based on the old Jantri valuation, a change from the previously proposed 25% discount. The adjustment aims to prevent sudden rental cost increases, maintaining accessibility to AMC plots for diverse community uses without financial strain.

According to a senior AMC official, these plots serve various purposes such as commercial, social, educational, and parking needs, accommodating short-term to long-term requirements. Residential plots will now be charged an annual rent equivalent to 4% of the current Jantri rates, while educational plots will incur a lower charge of 1%.
