Abrama in Surat likely to become newest Taluka of Gujarat
July 05, 2024
Surat: Abrama is likely to be declared Surat’s 15th taluka soon, with the new office expected to be functional from the first of August. This addition will bring the total number of talukas in Surat to 15, currently comprising nine in rural Surat and five in the city. The administration is actively preparing for this change.
Abrama taluka will include these villages: Gothan, Umra, Abrama, Mota Varachha, Bhada, Velanja, Valak, Bharthana Kosad, Vasvari, Kathor, and Segva Syadla. It will be part of the Surat North Prant Kacheri, requiring applicants to contact the Surat North office for administrative matters.
Surat’s city area will be divided into north and south regions. The north will include Adajan, Katargam, and Abrama talukas. The south will have Puna, Majura, and Udhna talukas.
There has been a provision for making Abrama a new taluka for a long time, but it was delayed due to the demand to make Kathor the headquarters. If Kathor becomes the headquarters, people from Varachha, Nana Varachha, Mota Varachha, Velanja, Umra, and Gothana will need to travel to Kathor. To avoid this inconvenience, the headquarters will likely be built around Abrama itself.
The new Taluka office of Abrama will function temporarily at Utran Community Hall on the second floor. Plans are underway to select land and construct a permanent office. Meanwhile, the Adajan Prant-Mamlatdar office’s construction is underway.
Temporary operations will occur on the second floor of Block A in the Adajan Prant Office District Seva Sadan. The library above the ground floor will be replaced by 84 Nagarik Suvidha and e-Dhara Kendra present in the office, providing convenience for applicants. DeshGujarat
