Committed to making state malaria-free by 2030: Gujarat Govt

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government on Wednesday announced that it is committed to achieving a malaria-free Gujarat by 2030. Currently, efforts are underway in all districts and corporations, aiming to bring the number of malaria cases down to zero by 2027.

According to a statement from the health department, ongoing awareness campaigns against malaria are being conducted alongside surveys to contain the disease statewide. The statement noted that pesticide spraying has begun in 45,355 households across 218 sensitive villages in 22 districts.

In the initial phase of the door-to-door campaign, 10,578 teams visited 1.31 crore houses, identifying mosquito breeding sites in 1.63 lakh locations. Approximately 2.99 lakh individuals showed fever symptoms, and samples were collected for laboratory testing.

During the subsequent phase, 18,065 teams inspected 1.43 crore houses, finding mosquito breeding sites in 1.65 lakh locations. Samples from 3.02 lakh individuals with fever symptoms were sent for laboratory analysis.

The department also highlighted the deployment of 492 vector control teams across all districts and municipal corporation areas.  DeshGujarat
