Ahmedabad Police Commissioner orders probe by ACP Crime over viral video of young woman

Ahmedabad: A video went viral on social media on Tuesday, in which a woman named Ayesha Galeria was seen complaining that the police did not act on her complaint after she was involved in a car accident.

The city police today issued a press note addressing the accusations made against them after conducting an investigation, stating, ‘A viral video posted by Rahish Ayesha Galeria of Ahmedabad regarding a vehicle accident alleged that Ahmedabad city police ignored her pleas, behaved unfairly, and disregarded her complaint. The incident reportedly occurred on July 14, 2024, at 20:15 hrs on S.G. Highway. Ayesha Galeria was driving her Kushaq Skoda recklessly when she collided with Siddharajsinh Makwana’s Maruti, who was traveling with his wife and daughter, causing damage to the Maruti. Following this, Siddharajsinh filed a case against Ayesha Galeria at S.G. Highway-2 Traffic Police Station.’

After the accident, she stopped her car ahead, called her brother Faisal Galeria, and got into a dispute with the complainant Siddharajsinh Makwana, allegedly verbally abusing and slapping him.

Both parties were then brought to Sarkhej Police Station to file their complaints and give their statements. During this process, upon advice from her lawyer, Ayesha chose not to sign the complaint against Siddharajsinh Makwana. The police requested her to read and sign the complaint, but she left the scene. Subsequently, on July 16, 2024, when contacted by the police by phone, she did not respond appropriately.

In response to the viral video and considering statements from both parties, the Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad City has instructed the woman ACP of the Crime Branch to conduct a thorough judicial investigation into the matter.

Additionally, based on a woman’s complaint against Ayesha Galeria and her brother Faisal for reckless driving, threats, and assault, both were arrested by Anandnagar Police Station. The city police have filed a charge sheet against them. DeshGujarat
