Kutch: A Border Security Force (BSF) officer and a jawan succumbed to extreme heat exposure while on patrol at the ‘Harami Nallah’ creek area along the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat on Friday.
Assistant Commandant Vishwadeo and Head Constable Dayal Ram experienced heat stroke and dehydration while patrolling near the India-Pakistan international border in Gujarat on Friday. The officer was a part of the BSF’s 59th battalion.
The two BSF personnel were on a ‘zero line’ patrol when they collapsed. Despite being rushed to a health facility in Bhuj, they could not be revived.
A spokesperson for the BSF’s Gujarat frontier stated that the two men, along with other members of the force, were on a “long-range border patrol in the remote and challenging terrain north of Harami Nala,” known for its harsh conditions. They encountered severe weather and medical emergencies during their patrol.
The personnel were transported to the nearest medical facilities, but unfortunately, they did not survive due to their critical condition.
Temperatures in the Rann of Kutch and Harami Nallah regions are currently between 34-36 degrees Celsius with humidity levels reaching 80-82 percent.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time,” the spokesperson added. DeshGujarat
