Rainfall Subsides in Gujarat; IMD forecast light rain next 2 days, heavy rains may return on August 2

Ahmedabad: After being battered with torrential rains last week, this week the state is witnessing relatively less downpour. After several days, there is no red or orange alert in the state for the next 48 hours. During this time, only light to moderate rain is likely to occur across all districts of the state. As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclonic circulation that was active and causing heavy rain has moved toward Pakistan; therefore, the possibility of heavy rains is low for the next two days. After two days, i.e., from July 2nd, some districts might experience heavy rain while light to moderate rain will occur in most places in the state.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, light to moderate rain is likely across all the districts of Gujarat for the next 48 hours until 8:30 AM on July 2nd.

On July 4th, an orange alert has been announced for Dang, Navsari, Tapi, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, as they may receive up to very heavy rains. Meanwhile, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath will be under a yellow warning with the possibility of heavy rains.

IMD Scientist Ramashray Yadav stated that, due to the upper air cyclonic system, there was rain in the city during the day on Monday. There was a possibility of heavy rain in Ahmedabad on Tuesday as well. However, on Tuesday, this system moved very quickly towards Pakistan through Saurashtra-Kutch and Rajasthan, which may lead to light to moderate rain in Ahmedabad for the next three days, but the likelihood of heavy rain is very low.
