Surat: Manager in CMS Info Company, which is into ATM and retail cash management business, Rahul Mehta received a complaint from a customer about a failed withdrawal of Rs. 50,000 cash from the ICICI Bank ATM. The account status was showing that the money was withdrawn from the machine, but the customer complained that he had not got the money.

ATM Machine Room’s CCTV footage showed that Jay Ramesh Patel (from Omnagar, Dindoli), who was sacked last September from the job in the company, was found to be in a suspicious condition there.

Jay was seen opening the hood of the ATM machine with the key in his possession and inserting a rubber band into the dispenser.

In such case, the customer came out and left the ATM cabin, as the money would not come out, and after a few seconds, Jay Patel was seen removing the rubber band from the dispenser and removing the money.

After checking more footage and other complaints received by the bank, it was confirmed that an ex-employee Jay had stolen Rs. 5.80 lakhs within a period of one month using the same trick. Mahidharpura police registered a crime and arrested 22-year-old Jay Patel and nabbed him. DeshGujarat
