August 03, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) will be holding an open house exhibition at its two campuses in the Navrangpura and Thaltej areas of the city on August 12th.
To commemorate the successful launch of the Chandrayaan-3 Mission, the soft landing of the Vikram Lander, and the deployment of the Pragyaan Rover on the Moon on 23 August 2023, the Government of India has declared the 23rd day of August of every year as the National Space Day (NSpD).
With this achievement, India became only the fourth nation in the world to land on the surface of the Moon and the first nation to land near the south pole of the Moon. To mark this day in the history of the Indian Space Program, the Department of Space is organizing nationwide celebrations during August 2024 to engage and inspire the youth of the nation towards space science and its applications with the theme ‘Touching lives while touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga.’
On this occasion, an Open House Exhibition is planned for Indian Citizens on all four campuses of PRL, at Navrangpura and Thaltej in Ahmedabad, Udaipur Solar Observatory in Udaipur, and PRL’s Mt. Abu Observatory at Mt. Abu, on 12 August 2024, which coincides with the celebration of Vikram Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the Founder of PRL and the Father of the Indian Space Program.
The Open House exhibition will provide an opportunity for curious minds to interact in person with renowned scientists of PRL, visit scientific exhibits displayed in the Open House, and take part in other events at PRL campuses.
