August 08, 2024
Gandhinagar: The 17th Pharmatech Expo and Labtech Expo was inaugurated today at the Helipad Exhibition Ground in Gandhinagar by the Minister of Health, Rishikesh Patel, and the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi. Both ministers inaugurated the expo and visited the exhibits. The theme of this 17th edition of the three-day Pharmatech Expo and Labtech Expo, being held from August 8 to August 10, 2024, is dedicated to innovation, technology, and knowledge-sharing.
Inaugurating the expo, Minister Rishikeshbhai Patel stated that the event, organized by Pharma Technology Index.com in association with the Drug Marketing and Manufacturing Association (DMMA), highlights pharma machinery, lab, analytical, and packaging equipment. Entrepreneurs and industrialists from various African countries are also participating in these expos.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized “India is progressing toward becoming a hub in the pharma sector, with Gujarat contributing a significant share. The state government is leveraging technology to provide various approvals to entrepreneurs, fostering more opportunities for innovation and investment in Gujarat. As a result, the pharma industry has gained momentum in the state. The organization of the Pharmatech Expo and Labtech Expo in Gujarat has generated considerable enthusiasm among entrepreneurs. Visitors and students attending these exhibitions will gain detailed insights into how machinery in the pharma sector operates.”
He added that, in the past, India had to rely on other countries for medicines or pharma machinery. However, as a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, most medicines and machinery in the pharma sector are now being manufactured in India under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ program. About 50 percent of the stents used for heart disease in the country are produced in Gujarat. Similarly, 70 percent of the lenses used in eye treatments are made in Gujarat.
Buyers from African countries such as Angola, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, and Namibia have participated alongside Indian exhibitors. The main objective of this expo is to expand market reach and create valuable opportunities for both buyers and sellers.
More than 400 exhibitors are participating in this exhibition, which is being held over an area of 25,000 square meters at the Gandhinagar Helipad Ground. The minister encouraged citizens to take advantage of this opportunity. Two new exclusive pavilions have been introduced at this year’s expo, showcasing the latest advancements and innovations in pumps, valves, pipes, and fittings—essential components of pharmaceutical manufacturing—as well as topics such as formulations, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, APIs, chemicals, ingredients, and fragrances.
