Hindu locals from Subhashnagar in Rajkot approaches District Collector

Rajkot: Locals from the Subhashnagar locality on Raiya Road rushed to the district collector’s office to protest the suspected sale of houses to Muslims.

According to the locals, six houses in Subhashnagar near the corner of Swastik Society are being sold to Muslims. The state government has designated Subhashnagar, Swastik Society, Dhruvnagar, Shrijinagar, Shreyas Society, Chudasama Plot, and other areas under the Disturbed Area Act. According to this act, the collector’s permission is required for the transfer of property.

However, the locals allege that the law is often breached and compromised, and that a number of properties are ending up in the hands of Muslims. In some cases, the property is sold on paper to someone else, but others come and settle there, the locals alleged. BJP leader Dharmendra Mirani joined the locals in their protest. The district collector has directed the Sub-Registrar not to clear the related files without his approval.
