Mount Carmel School in Navrangpura likely to relocate to St. Xavier’s Loyola Hall building

Ahmedabad: The 85-year-old Mount Carmel High School in the Navrangpura area of the city has begun relocating nearly 1,250 students to a nearby school after a structural assessment by the Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (GERI) found the building to be in 89% doubtful condition.
The school is considering operating an afternoon shift from the Loyola Hall building until a new campus, likely on the city’s outskirts, is established. Parents and teachers are expected to receive details about the new arrangements today.
The school management plans to submit a detailed report of the relocation and the necessary documents to the District Education Office (DEO) within the next two to three days. Operations from the current building will cease promptly after receiving DEO approval.
Ahmedabad City DEO, R M Chaudhary, mentioned that the school has been instructed to provide the alternative arrangement report as soon as possible. “The most probable solution is to move students to St Xavier’s High School Loyola Hall, which is within the allowable 5-km radius,” he said.
