August 20, 2024
Ahmedabad: The health department of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed Jaysiyaram Pendawala in the Paldi area of the city today after a customer claimed that pedas purchased from the shop developed fungus.
In preparation for the Rakshabandhan festival, a woman residing in Paldi bought three kilograms of pedas from Jaisiyaram Pendawala on August 17th. According to her, when she opened the sweet box on Monday, she found the sweets covered in fungus. She subsequently filed a complaint with the health department of the AMC, prompting them to initiate an investigation into the matter.
The woman also recorded a video showing the fungus-covered pedas and shared it on social media. Having paid Rs 2,460 for the 3kg of pedas, she is now demanding action against the shopkeeper.
Acting on the complaint, the health department team of AMC visited the shop on Monday night, but it was found to be closed. The AMC team visited the shop again today and found it closed once more. However, today the AMC officials sealed the shop and posted a notice there without conducting any inspection.
It is noteworthy that the customer bought the sweets on Saturday, and given the monsoon season, the sweets could have developed fungus at the customer’s home as well. The cause and origin of the fungus will only be clarified after the investigation. DeshGujarat
