Ukai Dam achieves rule level; over 75,000 cusecs of water being discharged downstream

Surat: The water level in South Gujarat’s largest and Gujarat’s second-largest, Ukai Dam, has today crossed the rule level. The mandated rule level at Ukai is 102.11 meters before September 1st. As of 3 pm on August 23, the water level was at 102.12 meters. Due to an inflow of over 75,000 cusecs of water, 8 gates of the dam have been opened by 1.22 m to discharge water downstream to maintain the rule level.
Over 74,000 cusecs of water are being released downstream into the river, while the outflow to the canal is 600 cusecs. The dam is currently 77.17% full, with a present gross storage of 5,721.33 MCM against the design gross storage of 7,414.29 MCM. DeshGujarat
