August 29, 2024
Vadodara: Senior most MLA Yogesh Patel of BJP in Vadodara joined by other party MLAs from the city Manisha Vakil and Chaitanya Desai in a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minsiter today evening complained that the Chief Fire Officer of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) Parth Brahmbhatt was not taking their phone calls at crucial time of flood.
Yogesh Patel said he complained regarding this before the Municipal Commissioner also earlier. Patel said when the city was facing flood, the Chief Fire Officer wasn’t replying phone calls of even MLAs, forget common people. MLA Yogesh Patel further said, the fire officer was not replying phone call on the first day, and on the next day his phone was replied by someone else. He said such person must not be tolerated in the department.
The issue was also raised by journalists in a press conference of Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi who is also the city BJP incharge. The journalists asked Sanghavi how it can be tolerated if fire officer of the city fails to reply the calls of the people when the city was facing the worst flood of many decades.
It’s worth noting that the issue of unused baots of VMC lying in poor condition at Fire department’s shade has also come to light today. The boats were given to VMC by the State government for occassions such as flood. However these boats couldn’t be used due to apparent lethargy of fire department as the boats were not properly maintained for urgent use. DeshGujarat
