August 31, 2024
Vadodara: The Fire Department of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had dispatched four teams of fire personnel to conduct rescue relief operations in flood-hit Vadodara. However, one of these teams met with an accident in Vadodara, leaving three fire personnel injured, with one being admitted to the ICU due to serious head injuries.
Ahmedabad Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Jayesh Khadia told the media that 23 fire personnel were sent for rescue operations by boat. After carrying out rescue operations throughout the night, the team started out again in the morning. At that time, a boat was tied behind the jeep, and three firemen were sitting in it. As the boat accidentally overturned, the three firemen fell onto the road. One fireman sustained serious head injuries, another had a leg fracture, and the third suffered cuts on his hands and feet. Currently, three personnel, including one station officer, are in Vadodara.
In rescue operations, a special van should be used, equipped to safely carry both personnel and equipment, including boats. However, the team sent to Vadodara was transported in four jeeps, with a boat tied behind. If the rescue van had been properly prepared and dispatched, the three firemen might not have been injured.
