Light rain clouds loom over these parts of Gujarat during Navratri from Oct 3-8

Gandhinagar: The biggest festival of Gujarat, Navratri, will commence tomorrow, October 3rd, and Garba lovers are ready to fill the grounds to perform the traditional Garba dance in devotion to Maa Durga. Naturally, all Gujaratis are curious about whether rain will spoil their Garba celebrations.

Looking at the weather pattern over the past two days, rainfall has subsided in Gujarat, with only four talukas of the state receiving over an inch of rain in the last 24 hours, ending at 6 AM today. This brings relief for the “Khelaiyas” (Garba dancers), as this pattern is expected to largely continue throughout the Navratri period from October 3rd to October 12th.

Here is what the IMD says about the weather situation during Navratri:

The IMD’s latest bulletin, covering October 2nd to 8th, which includes the first six days of Navratri, states that only a few areas in South Gujarat may experience light rain during this period.

On October 3rd, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and the regions of Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli may experience light to moderate rain/thundershowers, while the rest of Gujarat is expected to witness dry weather.
