Online torture of Hindu girl in Bopal, Gujarat; Sahil Ahmed nabbed in Pune

Ahmedabad: The city police have arrested one Sahil Ahmed from Pune for blackmailing a Hindu girl from Bopal by recording obscene videos of her through social media. Exhausted from the physical and mental torture, the girl attempted suicide twice by slashing her wrists. The accused also forced her to smoke cigarettes. The girl’s mother filed a complaint at the Bopal police station, after which the police arrested the accused in Pune.

Bopal police nabbed 21-year-old Sahil Ahmed Ibrahim Satarkar from Pune in Maharashtra and brought him to the city. The accused had befriended the girl by obtaining her Instagram ID from a mutual friend. Afterward, he also got her phone number. He then contacted the girl through Snapchat, WhatsApp, and Instagram. He allegedly recorded the screen while talking to the girl on a video call and saved the video. Later, he started blackmailing her, and she complied with his demands as he had her nude video. The accused allegedly extorted ₹90,000 from the girl.

Om Prakash Jat, Superintendent of Police Ahmedabad Rural, stated that Sahil connected with the victim through social media platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp, using these interactions to exploit and extort her. He coerced the girl into undressing during a video call and then blackmailed her with the footage, threatening to make it public if she didn’t meet his demands.

The incident of Sahil’s torture first came to light when the daughter of a Bopal-based businessman went to a trekking camp in Goa for eight days over Christmas last year. One day, the parents received a call from the camp, saying the girl was missing. The family started calling her, but her mobile was switched off. Later, the girl returned to the camp around nine o’clock, but her father reached Goa the next day. He found his daughter safe but noticed burn marks on her hands. When asked about the marks, the daughter revealed that she was in touch with Pune’s Sahil Ahmed Ibrahim Satarkar through Instagram and that he had come to Goa to meet her. She had spent the whole day with Sahil, and during an argument, he burned her with a cigarette.

Shocked by their daughter’s condition, her parents brought her back to Ahmedabad. Despite this, Sahil continued harassing the girl by calling her. He made a video call, forced her to take off her clothes, and recorded the video. Later, he blackmailed her with threats of making the video viral. Sahil repeatedly extorted money from the girl by sending QR codes.

The girl paid him ₹90,000 in small amounts. When the blackmail persisted, she attempted suicide twice by cutting her wrists. Her mother lodged a complaint with the Bopal police, leading to Sahil’s arrest in Pune, Maharashtra. Investigations revealed that Sahil Ahmed, a resident of Pune, runs a fruit business under the name “Taj Corner.”

The police have registered a case against Sahil Ahmed for molestation, blackmail, and mental harassment. They have also enlisted the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to recover the obscene videos and other data from his mobile phone. DeshGujarat
