Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed a Deputy Accountant (Class 3) from the Pension Office of Ahmedabad in a bribe case involving a sum of Rs. 5,000.
As per the details of the case, the grandfather of the complainant was a pensioner, and after his death, the complainant’s grandmother was receiving the pension. However, the proof of survival for the last year of the complainant’s grandmother could not be submitted, and during that period, she passed away. As her nominee, the complainant’s father was supposed to receive the outstanding pension amounting to Rs. 1 lakh. To clear those dues, the accused, Maheshbhai Ramshibhai Desai (36), who is posted at the Pension Payment Office, demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant’s father.
Later, as the complainant and his father were unwilling to pay the bribe, they contacted the ACB. The ACB, in a trap set up, caught the accused red-handed while accepting Rs. 5,000 as a bribe. DeshGujarat
