AMC launches investigation into fake land orders issued by bogus arbitrator
October 24, 2024
Ahmedabad: A magisterial court on Wednesday sent Morris Christian, accused of posing as an arbitrator and running a fake tribunal, into police remand until November 3.
Meanwhile, city civic body officials also conducted a site inspection after Christian issued fake orders regarding five survey numbers of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Narol-Shahwadi land. Prakash Gurjar, chairman of AMC’s legal committee, confirmed that the bogus orders were made in 2018 but had not been executed.
A court hearing is scheduled for today, after which a formal police complaint will be filed. The AMC investigation revealed that the fraudulent orders had not been enforced, and no third party had taken control of the land. Further inquiry is underway to determine why the fake orders were not previously scrutinized. Additionally, authorities are investigating whether the bogus arbitrator had issued similar orders in other land or dispute cases. A police complaint will be lodged regarding the entire matter.
